Introducing "Birding in Portugal"

If you're thinking of a Nature-watching holiday in southern Europe, either as an individual, a couple, or a group, has everything you could wish for.

We specialise in finding out-of-the-ordinary bird-friendly accommodation, with professional, resident and fully licensed Birding and Nature Guides at your disposal.

As well as providing accommodation and Guides we're also photographers and for those who aren't, (and even for those who are!), we include in our Guiding a photographic record of the day and species we saw for your personal use. Being photographers ourselves helps us also give those in the same game the benefit of our extensive experience in this field and this area. There are literally thousands of our photos on this site, (browse through our Taxonomic Galleries ), and we have more on our Flickr page also.

As regards our accommodation, we normally base ourselves at Quinta do Barranco da Estrada, a lakeside birder's lodge if ever there was one,

and with a view to die for.

We have hides in the vicinity, one even in the garden which is especially geared towards Golden Orioles, (nesting in the garden between April and August), and which is free to use whenever you'd like.

It really is rural Nature and Ornithological tourism at its best, but don't just take our word for it ... ask the birds!

What's more, we've been in the business for over 25 years, so you'll be in safe and knowledgeable hands.

With our years of experience we believe that we're not only the best but that we'll give YOU the best.

We specialize in really showing you around and giving you a true insight into what this friendly, safe and easy-to-get-to country has to offer, but any trip here is personal and can be tailored to suit your wishes and depth of pocket, so if you're looking for an unforgettable Nature-orientated holiday just email us your wishes and we'll do our best to make them all come true!

To see what birds are here and what time of year is the best to see them you can do no better than browsing our Taxonomic Galleries, but should you have any queries please don't hesitate to drop us a line.

We're proud to be members of SPEA, (Sociedade Portuguesa para o Estudo das Aves), and the BTO, (British Trust for Ornithology), and the WWT, (Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust).

Here's a short film that'll give you a taste of Birding in Portugal ... but the bit of Frank "leopard crawling" through the grass is pure fantasy. Believe me, we never do it but the Producer insisted upon it for "good TV" ...
