(Eurasian) Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo) Bufo-real

A very widespread species throughout Europe and Asia, stretching from the Pacific to the Atlantic and in latitude from the Arctic Circle to the Himalayas, so Portugal is no exception. The largest owl with a height approaching 75 cm, (two and half feet) and a weight between 3 and 4 kgs, Eagle Owls should be easy to see and observe, but they're wary and prefer rocky wild inaccessible places, where they roost during the day keeping perfectly still and beautifully camouflaged. Will only occasionally fly by day. Two large tufts resembling ears.
